AKIS in Action Networking Event: Digital Repositories – Bridging Research and Practice
The event showcased a variety of EU-wide and national platforms, demonstrating how these repositories are transforming the integration of research into practical applications while ensuring long-term availability.
EU-Farmbook is a strategic instrument for improving knowledge sharing innovation and digitalization on regional, national and EU-level. This platform is in development with many features so it offers an alternative to Project Websites and facilitating the cooperation with other platforms. In the future, the content will also be translated into all EU languages.
Two French platforms were showcased: the R&D Agri platform, designed to make R&D project outcomes accessible to both scientists and practitioners, and Ecophytopic, serving as a one-stop shop for integrated pest management resources, gathering practical information from projects across France and Europe.
Spain’s AKIS Plataforma was also highlighted. This comprehensive tool promotes agricultural innovation and knowledge sharing, providing a central hub for best practices, research, and policy. It connects AKIS professionals and offers agricultural advisors advanced decision-making tools and risk assessment models to support farmers. The platform is evolving into a collaborative network, where users can interact much like on Facebook.
The Italian platform Innovarurale is a platform of the Italian Rural Network (NRN) and plays a crucial role in facilitating the exchange of knowledge and promoting innovation in rural areas.
The audience had the chance to show their interest and raise questions via Q&A to the speakers. Topics included quality management and the types of content allowed on these platforms. One standout question was whether the repositories support not just documents and deliverables but also scientific data databases. The speakers also addressed practical concerns, such as the availability of resources, affordability, and how to manage time effectively when using and administrating these platforms.
